With more than three million people living in and around the area, Seattle is the continental United States' northwestern-most point. Home to the University of Washington, Seattle is the nation's most educated city, with the highest percentage of college graduates and is also the American headquarters of Starbucks coffee, Amazon.com, Microsoft, Costco, Alaska Airlines, Safeco, REI and Nordstrom. In the 1980s and 1990s, grunge music artists like Nirvana, Pearl Jam, and others made the city popular and Seattle also been the setting of many popular TV shows and movies.
