Pilates ProWorks in South Lake Union Hosts Pride Event to Help Seattle’s Homeless LGBTQ Teens

Pilates Studio donates all proceeds earned on June 23 to YouthCare

WHAT: In celebration of Pride Month Pilates ProWorks in South Lake Union will be donating all proceeds (including instructor pay) earned from classes on June 23 to Youth Care’s Independence, Security, Initiative and Success (ISIS) program at Raveena House.

Up to 40% of homeless youth identify as lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, or questioning. On the streets LGBTQ youth are in particular danger, they face seven times the likelihood of violence as do their straight peers and are twice as likely to commit suicide.

The ISIS program works to help homeless LGBTQ in the Seattle area by getting these at-risk teens off the street and providing opportunities for education and employment.

After turning to Pilates in his road to recovery following a plane crash, Oscar Sanin experienced firsthand the immediate positive impact that Pilates had on his mental and physical health. This experience altered the course of his recovery and ultimately, the course of his life.

A boutique fitness concept based on traditional Pilates with an innovative twist, Pilates ProWorks’ proprietary FitFormer™ and unlimited membership model break the norm of traditional Pilates practice by creating a high energy, community-centric group fitness experience for individuals of all fitness levels.

Since it began franchising in 2015, Pilates ProWorks has now grown to 11 U.S. locations as well as five international studios.
