Civic Engagement Series: Out on the Campaign Trail

Seattle Pride

The following description was provided by GSBA:

Most quality of life issues are decided at the local level, but races for these positions do not always get the attention that they deserve. There is a great group of out LGBTQ candidates running for local office across Washington State, including city and county councilmembers and special districts. There are experienced veterans and first-time candidates. All of them are hoping to bringing their visions to improve their communities.

Confirmed candidates include:
-Kali Clark, candidate for Sammamish City Council
-Carmen Rivera, candidate for Renton City Council
-Dave Upthegrove, King County Councilmember

Amanda Westbrooke will be returning as our host. Amanda has hosted Tacoma’s NATOA-award-winning CityLine, a weekly economic and cultural affairs program, for almost two decades. She has acted as Master of Ceremonies for countless Northwest events. As a natural storyteller and educator, she wafts and weaves local tradition with urban progress. Her compassion is her greatest gift which shows as she connects with the causes and people of her community.

GSBA is a nonpartisan organization and does not endorse candidates.
