Celebrate the 50th anniversary of Seattle Pride celebrations by taking a trip down memory lane with the Objects of Pride Showcase hosted at GenPride Center (1521 Broadway) from 11am – 2pm on Wednesday, March 27.

The free event is a fun takeoff on TV’s popular Antiques Roadshow, with a queer twist. Bring your favorite artifacts, memorabilia, or photos capturing queer life – and have them reviewed by MOHAI Executive Director Leonard Garfield and Chief of Exhibits and Interpretation Devorah Romanek who will discuss items and their historical significance. Attendees can peruse a gallery of curated LGBTQIA+ memorabilia (open to the public at GenPride Center through April 12) and are invited to share personal stories through an audio booth.

The event will commence with an exploration of Seattle's Queer History through the decades, led by MOHAI Executive Director Leonard Garfield. This will be followed by speaker, storyteller, editor, and writer Rosette Royale. Rosette is fascinated by the stories and histories that course through people's lives - which is present in their experience curating the AIDS Memorial Pathway. They currently work as the managing editor of the South Seattle Emerald.

You’re invited to join us as we delve into Seattle’s rich queer history from 50 years ago and beyond – honoring the people and places which helped to expel shame, create unity, honor diversity, and achieve equal human rights.

Objects of Pride: A Queer Antiques Roadshow launches a call for digital submissions (through April) for MOHAI’s online showcase, Objects of Pride, which runs mid-May through July 4 in recognition of National LGBTQIA+ Pride Month (June).

The event – presented by Seattle Pride, MOHAI, and GenPride – also includes a preview of this year’s Seattle Pride 50th anniversary festivities and this year’s theme “NOW!” in honor of the original rallying cry for the recognition of Seattle’s LGBTQIA+ community.
