Grand Marshal announcements continue as 40th Anniversary of Seattle Pride approaches

April 16, Seattle — Seattle Pride received over 60 nominees for Grand Marshals last December during a community meeting open to the public at Agnes Underground. Among the drafted honorees was George Takei who was announced in March as the Celebrity Grand Marshal to lead the parade. The list of nominees was narrowed down to a select few that represent the diversity of our community and, highlight the various ways wecome together to ensure equal rights and social justice for the LGBT community. Loud and Proud: Seattle Pride Parade Announcers named for 2014

APRIL 2, Seattle — Seattle Out & Proud will celebrate its 40th anniversary with a big presence along the route of this year's Seattle Pride Parade, which winds through downtown on 4th Avenue.

Out of the starting gates, Mama Tits and Sylvia O'Stayformore will (wo)man the main stage at Westlake Park. The pair hosted the Pride Parade for the last four years at the 4th and Bell stage, and Mama Tits was one of the hosts of the 2010 PrideFest Main Stage at Seattle Center. Sylvia O'Stayformore will join Mama. Sylvia has been performing in drag in Seattle since 1997. Longtime Westlake announcer Aleksa Manila will be honored in a different role this year for Pride, which will be announced soon. Read full story...

George Takei to lead 2014 Seattle Pride Parade as Celebrity Grand Marshal

MARCH 26, SEATTLE — Seattle Out & Proud, organizers of Seattle Pride, are thrilled to announce that George Takei will lead this year's Seattle Pride Parade as Celebrity Grand Marshal. With a career spanning more than five decades, Takei is known around the world for his founding role in the acclaimed television series Star Trek, in which he played Hikaru Sulu, helmsman of the Starship Enterprise. Design your pride: 2nd annual Seattle Pride t-thirt design contest announced

MARCH 24, SEATTLE — Seattle Out and Proud has partnered with Choke Shirt Company for the Second Annual Seattle Pride T-shirt Design Contest. All entries must be submitted by midnight on Monday May 9, 2014. The winner will receive a $250 cash prize courtesy of Choke, along with tickets to Pride Brunch, VIP seating during the Seattle Pride Parade, complimentary shirts with the winning design on it and much more. Pride Idol prepares for local fame in sixth year of competition

MARCH 19, SEATTLE — The sixth annual Seattle Pride Idol, Presented by T-Mobile, is heating up. Kickoff is slated for Sunday, April 6 at Neighbours Nightclub at Capitol Hill.

The amateur voice competition, hosted by Seattle Out & Proud, will feature 10 different competitors each event through the June 8 finale. Each competition winner will move one step closer to the finale and title of 2014 Pride Idol, while the runner-ups will face off in the Wildcard Night on June 1 for two coveted finale spots and the opportunity to compete.

A panel of three to four judges will rate the contestants weekly based on vocal ability, overall performance and stage presence. All competitions will be hosted by Miss Gay Seattle, Olivia LaGarce. Read full story...
