Happy Juneteenth! Let’s Celebrate by Supporting Black Creators
Jun 19, 2021 | Seattle Pride
Happy Juneteenth friends!
It was on this day 156 years ago, that federal troops arrived in Galveston, Texas to free enslaved people which came a whole two and a half years after the Emancipation Proclamation had been signed by President Abraham Lincoln. The day celebrates the end of slavery however, our country operates under institutionalized racism that disproportionately affects QTBIPOC folks. On this day and every day, it’s important that non-Black and QTBIPOC folks support Black businesses, people, and organizations!
Along with a wonderful list of Black-owned restaurants, bars and coffeeshops created by The Intentionalist- linked here, we’ve created a list of Black organizations that you can support as well as a list of Black influencers to follow!
